I'm pretty sure that nothing would happen, but if anything was to happen, the cap would blow off first.
There is more strength at the cap, due to the threads. The bottom generally blows out first if you put the cap on tight enough, fast enough. I learned this the hard way and blinded myself for 2 or 3 minutes, it was very scary.
