I have ridden a few trains and I enjoy them quite a bit. They are nicer to take on a few hour trip than driving, but somewhat a hassle because of no transportation when you get there.

Next month, I'll be taking the bullet trains in Japan (one way). Should be a run ride, going 150+mph.

NOthing really every happens to me on trains (I use it for last minute trips home)...basically I get in my seat, sometimes get up to use the bathroom or get something to eat... and that's it

About a dozen times on the NYC - DC route. Twice from DC - Boston and a few times to Philly on it. Then I took it from London up to Glasgow and once in Africa. Also been in the Wash DC, Atlanta, NYC, SF Bay, Paris, and the London subway.

my train rides have all been in china. and unless you get the expensive personal sleep bunks it gets DAMN NASTY! my grandparents told me that when they rode trains it was so squeshed that people had to go to the bathrooms right there and then! tahnk god for Amtrak now. but i sitll think trains are fun. You get to meet poeple, walk around, and the scenery, IMO is better.

When we were in DC we used a shuttle and then the Subway to get from our hotel to "The Mall" and back. I've been on a few other trains and monorails many times.

Overall, public transporation is usable except when you have lots of bags.

Many times...most recently I took the train from London, UK to Manchester, UK and from London to Paris. But that was about a year ago.

Train tracks in the UK have certainly gone to crap since they let Virgin take over. Just my Opinion.
