Has any one tryed the IEradicator from 98Lite.net?

Title says it all??

It seems like a good way to get rid of IE, and install a new IE version or OPERA/MOZILLA!

Opinnions??

I used it on a couple of Win98 installations. Worked flawlessly 🙂

When I did it, I wanted to use IE still. But afterwards, I couldn't use Windows Update unless I registered a .dll file or something. The fix escapes me, and I didn't find it at the 98lite.net site. Wait...I just read the readme file for IErad 2001, and it says that it doesn't remove Windows Update since people install IE afterwards. So, that's cool.

I'd like for there to be a XPLite or something like that. That'd be cool, but hard also since XP tries to be stable, not small.

Hey Elledan, I have a question. If you use 98lite, and you use Opera/Netscape/Mozilla instead of IE, would you need to get Windows Updates still? I mean, how would you know what to download from the Windows Corporate Update site?

The Windows Update is a good issue, I don't use it much, but I do
like it!

There must be a way to keep it...

Oh, you must've misunderstood me. I was saying that it should allow you to use Windows Update if you use IEradicator to clean out your current IE install, then install the newer version squeaky clean. I was just curious if you need to use it if you uninstall IE and use another browser. (But, Elledan hasn't replied so I'll wait...)

I don't know. Those PCs I used IEradicator on are all standalone PCs, that's why I removed IE: to speed up the system by removing the integrated browser stuff.

You don't need win updates if you want to download off the Windows Corporate Update site, just go there and download then. Since corporate just deploy the updates, MS is clever enough to distangle the necessity of windows updates on the Windows Corporate Update site.

Mind you that's not the same for the personal ones though.
