Has any of you eaten this fruit before?

I've eaten the preserved ones in the cans before, but they taste nothing like when they are fresh. Best tasting fruit I've ever had.

So far, I think my favorite fruit are asian pears. I don't think I've ever heard of mangosteens before.

Yes, but i am not sure they are the best tasting fruit, that's reserved for lychee.
I one time ate a rotted mangosteen, that tasted funny.

There are plenty of those in Southeast Asia.. sorta seasonal fruits.

They taste kinda sourish..

The pics make them look very nice but normally they are not that perfect 😉 but tastes good nonetheless!!

Widely cultivated in the Asian tropics, the mangosteen is no relation to the mango. In size and structure, it's much like a tangerine, having 5 to 8 fruit segments. The segmented flesh is soft, cream-colored and juicy. It has a tantalizingly sweet-tart flavor that is extremely refreshing. The hard skin of the mangosteen is a dark purple-brown. Unfortunately, the mangosteen is rarely imported to the United States.

Yup, and it's great. Very $$$ though. I also like baby bananas and dragonfruit, among others. (Dragonfruit is also very $$$ so I don't get it often.)
