How could you possibly want to play oblivion for 4 years? That game got old after a few hours.

Sounds like somebody doesn't know about the mod scene that goes hand-in-hand with Bethesda games...

At one point I had played so much TF2 that I started actively noting when backstab positions opened up in real life. :ninja:

I cut down on play time shortly after that. :whiste:

Back in the elementary school days (grade 1-3), my buddies and I used to play an X-wing version of tag.

We would run around, firing at each other with properly mimicked sounds ("wek wek" for Rebels, "pew pew" for Imperials) to boot, and running/ dodging based on spacecraft limitations (if you had a sugar high, you were an A-wing; tired, became a Tie-Bomber).

Nowadays during paintball sessions, I would envision holding down the sprint/ action key when running from cover to cover, UE3-styles.

[Closet] nerd 4 life. 😎

After countless hours in Everquest (over 100 days /played) on multiple characters, I started imaging names floating over eveybody's head and the color of that name would match their mood.

For example, walk into work on Monday and see "your boss scowls at you, ready to attack. What would you like your tombstone to say?"

No worries, I already maxed my strength and intelligence. Who needs dexterity these days, there are no undead liches walking around. But if there were, I'd definitely knock my head a few times to max that out. 300 gold coins for two maybe three swings of a sword is nothing to sneeze at, especially with today's gold prices. You even get bags full of stinky reagents, like black pearls and nightshade, great for making high energy soup.

Then again, I always was more of an entrepreneur of acquisition, achieved through my tongue and music...

Actually, when I sing and play my lute in real life, I usually fail to incite enough anger towards anything but myself.

I find myself saying things from counter strike all the time... Someone will be going to slow at work and I'll yell "GO GO GO!!!"

If I play too much of a word or puzzle game, I start imagining and solving puzzles in my head. Often when I'm trying to sleep.

I've been playing a lot of Chime lately before I go to bed. During several of my residency interviews, I would imagine seeing pieces coming together behind the person I was trying to convince to give me a job.

Sometimes i imagine my environment as an FPS, but realistically done via the Crytek or U3 engine. Usually i think of how i'd do a remake of an old game in First Person, like Outcast, Omikron, Flashback. How i would do away with the Crouch/jump buttons and make them more automatic....like auto leap over a fence complete with proper head tilts, ducking under things..stuff that we do automatically in real life without much thought. Like walking through the woods, your head sways and tilts around branches constantly. just more realistic movements that are more animated, although it would make some sea sick.

I also like to think of all the cool stuff from various FPS games and put them in one..like mixing the jumps and other movements of Mirrors edge, the pulling out bullets from your leg and run slide in Farcry 2, the RPG like parts of Stalker..etc. in enviros were you can ride vehicles/fly dragons depending on type of game. Seems most fpst games feel very static in how you move and FC2 and Mirrors Edge would make a great combo for any FPS.

I forgot which MMO it was exactly, but I remember I was farming an area for a rare wooden staff. Must have been a week straight.

After all of that, I went outside one day saw a branch on the ground and got all giddy inside. I felt I needed to pick up the branch and check its stats.

For Johns Hopkins students, the second floor of the Bloomberg building above the lobby has the perfectly square alcoves. I was playing Wizardry 7 when I was in college (with perfectly square tiles) and I had a thought that I was in a dungeon when walking up there.

Sometimes when I use my GPS while I'm driving and it voices a direction, i.e turn left in 100 feet, I sometimes reply like the Marines in Starcraft II. "Turn left in 100 feet." "Yes sir" or "Will do" or if I'm not paying close attention to the directions I'll say "We could use some help here."

When I used to play CS competitively for years, I would imagine terrorists at random spots on top of buildings and strategies on how to kill them CS style.

Interesting op, since you play Oblivion so much it influences your real life. When on the bus can you hear all the people talking and having 1 of 2 crappy voices?

I called a guy at work a 'noob' a few weeks ago and was surprized when no one knew what a 'noob' was.

Also, I often think of items in the store as costing gold instead of dollars, and occasionally and accidentally say it outloud. "How much gold does this cost" "Oh look, on sale for 3 gold!"

OH! When I'm tired, for just a split second looking for the keyboard when I'm in the car in rush hour traffic, or on the highway to type /follow

After playing Fallout: NV for a while, I got very excited for a moment when I saw a bobby pin on my bathroom floor. After I figured out why I wanted to punch myself.

I love this thread! I now know I don't suffer alone in my flights of fancy 🙂

When I play hours of Civilization I'll from time to time replay great victories in my head as if they happened centuries ago. My leadership has brought my people greatness! lol

Back in the early 1990's, I was at a cookout at my mothers house, the day after playing X-Com all night. The sun was going down and I looked at a shadowy bunch of bushes in her yard and thought: "better not go in there. There's probably a Sectoid hiding in those bushes. "

Recently....I played too much bejeweled, and I dreamed in bejeweled, getting major combo's.

This. I haven't really had it creep into RL but my girlfriend and I have both had dreams about games we were heavy into. It's pretty cool actually.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome ... I could play FO3 for hours, but never dream in it, but if it's colorful like peggle, or bejeweled, I know what i'll be dreaming all night!
