Has a CD Alarm Clock been invented? If not, I claim the patent!

Hello. I recently realized how much the song I wake up to on the alarm clock can affect my day, or at least the first two hours. If it's an upbeat, new song that I really like, I wake up refreshed, happy, and ready to start the day. If it's a boring, played out song (especially on a Monday), I feel like flattening the alarm clock under a steamroller, then rolling over myself.

In order to control the song that wakes you up, is there any kind of CD-player alarm clock? Something compact and simple, but will play either a set song or a random one from a list you set? Perhaps MP3 compatibilities?

If this has yet to be invented, this thread will be used in a court of law by me to claim ownership to this patent and royalties to all resulting revenue. Thank you. :)

Use the Winamp alarm clock plugin if your computer is in your room. It's just as good I would think.

And I've seen tons of CD player/alarm clocks.

You live in a small burrow on the dark side of a mountain, don't you?

I bought one with my graduation money in 1992! I used it in college, and woke up to the same song every morning. Sorry, you're a dollar short, and 10 years too late.

Well, apparently so do SWirth, Aves, Mattco, and every person I've asked in real life...

Unless they were being horribly sarcastic, but I doubt it.

Thanks for the link...

OK here's my idea... MP3 capabilities! ha! And you can set a list of songs from which it will pick one for you to randomly awake with! ha! :)

With the ones in existance (far inferior to the one's I've conjured up in my head, of course), can you pick a specific track, etc.?

CD alarm player clocks are stupid. The real poo is a projection atomic alarm clock. If I wake up early, I don't have to move to see what time it is, I just open my eyes and look at the ceiling.

Wouldn't that light up the room, though? The one I have now I have to cover up because it's too bright as it is... heh

Mine doesn't provide any ambient light at all, maybe it's the type of ceiling I have. It's not smooth, it's very rough texture. Or maybe I have thick eyelids. ;)

Mine was a christmas gift my dad got on a business trip, so I don't know where he got it. They have 'em in the sharper image catalog though. Depending on how expensive they are, there's a $20 off $60 coupon floating around out there.

Real nice. You could have at least given me a wink or something. It's not like they're on sale on TV every week.

And I'm still content in the fact that none of the 15 people I asked (and don't go criticizing them, now) had seen one before.

Has anyone ever gotten something from Sharper Image that DIDN'T break within a week? I think I'm 0 for 5, so I'm not getting anything from there for the rest of my life.
