Harvard Law School classmates appeal to Gonzales

db

Lifer

"'Now more than ever, our country needs a President, and an Attorney
General, who remember the apt observation attributed to Benjamin
Franklin: ?Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a
little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.' We call
on you and the President to relent from this reckless path,
and begin to restore respect for the rule of law we all learned to
love many years ago."

"...we can no longer be silent about this Administration?s
consistent disdain for the liberties we hold dear. Your failure to stand for the rule of law, particularly when
faced with a President who makes the aggrandized claim of being a unitary executive, takes this country down
a dangerous path."

It'll be ignored, or treated as treasonous by not only Gonzales, Bush, but also the loonies that support them both here and throughout the country. Sad really.

They pretty much said he was an embarassment to their institution and their vocation, and that if he had any sense, he would stop embarassing himself and them by his past association with Harvard Law.

And just like Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz, he won't leave until he is absolutely forced to leave. Why? Because they are fanatics on a mission.

WOW!!!!!!!!

So out of a class of how many they got a whopping 56 alumi to sign. Impressive........or not.

Harvard is practicing embarrasment again? I thought they gave it up. As for lawyers being embarrassed - lol.

If anything, the abuse of our laws stems from two things.

1: Bush's lack of respect for libertarian values, thereby betraying the small government Republican base. (Something I suspect he and many big-government liberals share)

2: Our cowardice at refusing to profile our enemy down to their common religion.

Sorry, I should clarify that my sentence meant to refer to the fact that Alberto Gonzales was embarassing his Harvard class and Harvard by virtue of his association with them.

I know it's in style with the intellectual dilettantes to make fun of lawyers, but the truth is lawyers hold an important cornerstone of our society and provide a vital function for our society.
