I didn't say that they didn't have the power to NOW collect taxes, I was questioning him on saying it was founded on taxes. That most certainly is NOT the case.

I wish we had a true liberal party so we could have a sensible 3 party government at the least...maybe then you guys wouldn't freak out over the tiniest things related to taxes.

This a good move, and a well deserved tax.

I used to pay a "carryout tax" to order food to go, why shouldn't a small tax be applied to elective surgeries? Exemptions exist in the bill to get you out of paying it for all but the most superficial reasons anyhow. (If you are morbidly obese, if you are disfigured, if you suffer from a disease a plastic surgeon could treat best..you don't have to pay). This is exactly where we should be focusing a fair allotment of tax collection resources.

Additionally, empire building has become a sacred staple in our budget.. Just like the new public option will be.
