is harry half blood? technically I assume so, because his mother's family appears to be muggles. Plus all the pure bloods are related somehow as shown in Sirius' family tree. And no, thats not a spoiler.

I also wonder. I think Harry is not, since Lilly and James are magic.
but, I think Lilly is a mudblood.

I don't know. What chapter is it in?

I don't remember exactly and I don't have the book right here, but Dumbledore told Harry that he was most like Voldemort because they were both half-bloods

did you even read my post?

harrys mothers family are NON MAGICAL FOLK. His dad is a PURE BLOOD. That makes him a half-blood. Just like Hermonie (sp?) is a mudblood, so was harrys mother.

yea, half blood would be half pure half non-pure. thus only half pure magical blood.

no, because Hermonie's parents are not magical at all. Her father is a dentist. Now, it is entirely possible that Petunia is a squib, but probably not. Lily Potter is a child born of muggle parents with the gift of magic.

This is frighteningly close to the "discussions" we had when I was growing up back in the 50's but I'll ask it anyway:

How pure do you have to be to be a pureblood? Is Muggle forever, or do you lose it in a few Wizard generations? Do you ever blend in? Does anyone really care, except for the Malfoys?

pureblood is having only magical blood in you. It isnt possible to become a total pureblood down the line if you have a family member who is a Magical Muggle. It would only decrease by halfs, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, etc. Plus it is getting harder to find pure bloods to marry.

Not that the Malfoys would care. Once a half-blood always a half-blood.
