Go get one of those softball sized tachs with the shift light. Add an easy 5 HP to your car. Ask any riced out Civic owner.

My 5 inch monster tach added 10 horse. BTW, it's not mounted in a ricer.

You can tell approx how many rpms you're going at by listening to the engine. I don't even look at my tach anymore - it's just second nature now

You can also tell how high your revving by looking at the oil pressure. If it drops to zero you know your revving to high and your sucking your pan dry.
