Harmful to my speakers?

No way I would use a surge unit 8 years old! Get a new one and soon. You can get a nice cyberpower unit at walmart which has emi noise filter in it for 16-24 bucks, several models.

Put the speakers onto an outlet that's not running off the same breaker. Also get a new surge protector since after 8 years I seriously doubt it will do you any good at all (could even harm your hardware due to age).

Personally, ALL my computer hardware is feeding off of APC UPS'... I have a pair of 1000VA units that provide battery and/or surge protection to my critical hardware. I'll probably be picking up a third to use with my lower priced hardware soon (as well as my DSL modem) so that everything has battery power in case I get another blackout. Sucks to have a laptop running, router working, only to have the modem (on the other side of the room) without power.

Welps...i just got myself a new power surge and the problem is still present!!

Any suggestions.
Basically when i turn on mY AC unit i can hear a click in my speakers. It also happens randomly! Very random. Maybe i should time it. Random as in every 2 hours or so.

Does the "click" coincide with your air conditioner's compressor kicking on?

If so, you probably want to remove all electronic items from that circuit and put them on a different circuit.

The compressor, when it kicks on is probably responsible for the click.

Yeah i know my AC unit is responsible for the clicking but it's not just the AC unit. It must be something else for it to happen randomly because i didnt turn on my AC unit at all yesterday when it happened randomly. It must be something else in the house.

I bought a cyber power surge protector but i guess that didnt help. =\

For some reason my cell phone interfers with my speakers and it makes the clicking noise your talking about. I don't think I can fix it so I just turn my cell off when I enter my room.

What other devices in a home can cause clicks on your computer speakers...

Refrigerator
Home furnace

Other high powered appliances...
