Here's a good way to measure the video acceleration performance of your video card:

A Vista DreamScene oicean background encoded at full 1080p HD wmv in high bit rate:

What's your CPU utilization when running this?

This is pure 1080p with zero noise, I rendered it in 30 hours using Maya 3d on a fast QC cpu.

I was surprised when someone told me it maxed out the CPU of their AMD 6000 system!

With a decent card I don't think CPU should nearly be maxed.

The 1080p video uses around 50% of the CPU in my sig when I set it as my desktop background. GPU activity is at 20% so it is helping accelerate somewhat.

Nice dreamscene :)

edit: I just tried the 1200*800 one since I dont have a widescreen mo;nitor but the CPU usage is almost the same as the 1080p one

Thanks that is very interesting -

I wonder how the 1200*800 could take the same utilization as the 1080 which is double the pixels?

The gpu must be making a big difference though if you're at 50% CPU with a 3800+ and another guy was at 90%+ with an AMD 6000 CPU.
