Cool rig you got there. Love the fact that you're pushing that beast to over 5Ghz speeds with that plug and play coolerI am cooling it with a H115i running push/pull Noiseblocker eLoop B14-PS fans...

Delidding itself is not exactly plug and play though.Cool rig you got there. Love the fact that you're pushing that beast to over 5Ghz speeds with that plug and play cooler
Great point. Now you just made me wonder how far could that cooler take that chip without delidding the cpu.Delidding itself is not exactly plug and play though.
Had some results put in from another 7820X OC user;
Outside of Geekbench, which i'm open to arguments for, but I at the moment consider the outlier, Ryzen vs 7820X ends up roughly where I expected it. 5-15% multicore deficit, 15-25% single core deficit.
It's certainly a great setup no doubt. I just wish Intel offered a better option than their lackluster TIM, even no IHS to begin with would be an improvement over that....but nevertheless, he has a great setup
I believe he said it was a 100-200Mhz difference.Great point. Now you just made me wonder how far could that cooler take that chip without delidding the cpu.

@Gikaseixas , @Malogeek is correct. Delidding only got me 100-200MHz. I was running 4.7GHz as my 24/7 overclock and benching it at 4.9GHz before the delidding. After, I was able to push the voltage a bit while keeping the same temps putting me at 4.8GHz 24/7 and 5.0 Benching.

Crumpet, Tahoedust, you guys are using 2 different versions of Geekbench. Crumpet is using 4.1.1 and Tahoe is using 4.1.0. Even my Ryzen @ 3.8 with 3200 CL14 out performs Crumpet's machine with 4.1.0 https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/compare/3597829?baseline=3610988

Well spotted, that deficit will still be large though. I'll grab GB 4.1.0 tomorrow and take a look.
It is safe to say that a $130 water cooler is enough for Intel's new HEDT cpus
Rolled the dice and pre-ordered retail chip. From what I have seen, it is only a little better than average. There are a lot of guys running 4.7GHz daily overclocks.@TahoeDust I'm curious, did you buy a binned chip or get lucky?
