Just saw this on /.

Freeboxen

FWIW, the idea is that if you have old stuff you're willing to give away, post it on this site. Likewise, if you're looking for something, somebody might have it.

This site is a great idea. I upgrade my computer enough that I have plenty of 486/Pentium pieces lying around and I feel bad about just throwing them away.

It was irresponsible of you to post this here. That site only works if it is attended by a reasonable fraction of givers to takers. Now all the lurker vultures of anand tech will swoop down upon the free boxen and we will kill the sight. Not good.

Now that's simply not true. I don't care who gets my old 486/33 chip as long as someone wants to use it. It's just sitting in a box in my room anyway, and it's pretty much valueless.

It certainly won't kill the site to advertise, it can only make it better. Sounds like you want all those parts to yourself!

dude...this site is cool! now i can try to get rid of old stuff, and maybe get other parts to experiment with
=)
good find!
