hardware recommendation

here are some details of my situation:

i live in a house with 4 other guys. we have 20mbps fiber coming into a simple 4 port (3 useable) wireless router. the problem is we dont' have enough ports now (2 of my roommates got xbox 360's when halo3 came out). 6 lan ports should be fine for us, but 3 isn't working out. we would like a router that can also do wifi. but i am having trouble finding one. or should we get an 8 port router and attach the current 4port w/ wifi to that (in a chain, or would that even work).

thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Just go buy an 8 port switch from your local electronics store. Hook the switch into one of the router ports, and it will then give you 3 usable ports on the router, and 7 usable ports on the new switch, all with internet access. DO NOT purchase another router, as that would likely cause IP address conflicts, and various other predicaments, without disabling most of the features inside the second router. a Switch is definitely the way to go here.

Alternatively, if you want a new router, just look for one with 8+ ports and wifi... if they exist, most I've seen only have 4-5 ports on them.

Jebus... just did a quick newegg search, and the only router I could find with 8 ports & WiFi was a $700+ Cisco number. My recommendation would be to go find the wireless router you want, and get the 8 port (or higher) switch to compliment it.
