I've been getting an error quite frequently while playing a game. It's MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error and I have been told that it can be memory related. I checked compatible RAM with my mobo and the RAM I am using (512 MB Corsair) is not listed, but the 256 version is. Can someone help me with this problem, such as if I need new RAM and whatnot? I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and it doesn't work.

It could very well be the ram, but you'll need to give more information. Like your system specs, and is this only happening in a specfic games, or all games (and which games work fine)?

If your ram is a single stick, try it in another ram slot. Try running memtest overnight to see how the ram is (1 or 2 passes is NOT enough). Have you tried updating video and soundcard drivers? Does your mobo require drivers?

Double check in BIOS startup screen, that all 512 MB is being recognized in system. Use pause/break key to lock screen to see clearly, in case it cycles too fast.
I added a stick of 256 to another 256 in another pc, and it didn't auto detect the added stick.
