With my new build, I am now using Vista 64-bit Home Premium as opposed to XP on my old rig, so I am inclined to believe that this problem lies with Vista and it's usual glitchyness as opposed to faulty hardware.
The problem I am having is that my mouse presets (button configurations) won't save as they are supposed to. The mouse I am using is a Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse and I have had a few problems with the button configurations already. My old Logitech MX510 Gaming Mouse was glitch-free from the start.
Anyways, I changed three of the button combinations so I could use those buttons for gaming - just like I used my old mouse. For example, I have the two buttons above and below the scroll button set to Page Up and Page Down respectively. It is quite helpful for browsing webpages and also allows me to set two additional game hot-keys to Page Up and Down. Well, when I set those keys, everything is fine up until I restart my PC (restart or shut-down). My settings will stay to what I set them do prior to restarting my PC, but until I go back into the program and re-apply (either re-configure or just re-apply) them, they don't actually stay to what they are set to.
So in other words, I have to go back into the configuration utility every time I start my PC so that the buttons will function in the manner they are supposed to.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Better yet, does anyone know how to fix this?
(Please don't reply with "call logitech and ask them" because it is a bit past their hours of operation. The sole reason I am posting this is in hopes of getting an answer and a solution tonight to avoid calling customer service tomorrow.)
