Hardware Installation Help

I am going to be reinstalling windows and I want to know if i should install it without the non-basic hardware (sound card, LAN card, etc.) and after I get windows installed install them, or should I install the all at once(i.e.- when i begin installation, have every componet phisically installed)?

In general I would say let XP ( I am going to assume we are talking about XP) install as much of the drivers as possible. Then pick it up from there.
