So I was Googling on some computer-related issue and came across this website "spicygreeniguana". On the first look, it appears to be a very sizable forum dedicated to computers and tech - all in English too. I start browsing through the posts and the more I read, the stranger it gets. When I read a post, it appears that the English is somewhat broken - like someone trying to type in English but without a good grasp of the language, although more or less understandable if you read hard enough. Then I start reading other posts and very soon I realized that the entire forum population talks like that. I was like WTF...this doesn't make sense.

Anyone come across sites like these and what is the purpose?

actually after some poking around, it looks like the native language is german but it's being translated to english on the fly?

i dunno...strange

IIRC there are plugins for most of the major forums to automatically translate everything based on a user's selected language..

Just a guess, but they appear to have cloned a german language tech forum (probably sometechsite.de) by running it through google translate and putting it up on a dot com. Probably check to see how much traffic they get, and if it's enough they'll put up some ads. Might actually work if they have some SEO skillz at getting indexed.

Those clever germans... I still don't trust them.
