Hardrive question?

Would it slow down a hardrive if the slave is slower?
A 160 gig WD 8 mb cache. with a 40 gid WD on the slave.
 
Having a CD or DVD ROM as a slave doesn't slow down a hard drive either... but while the slave is being accessed, the "faster" hard drive cannot be... So the answer can be Yes and No.
