Hardrive acting weird

I've noticed that my second hardrive while booted to winxp will often make a click sound and then spin down...why is it shutting down? Then when I go to load something from the drive I have to wait for it to start spinning again. Is there a setting in windows to prevent this? Also Im noticing that now it makes slightly more noise when searching for data...Is my drive about to die? If not should this be happening? Im kinda freaking out here.

BTW its a Western Digital Special Edition 120GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Drive, Model WD1200JB

Check Control Panel > Power Options and see if it's set to spin down after a certain amount of idle time (and if so, does it seem to correspond to the behavior you've seen?).

well, its set to turn off hardrive after 3 hours however, everytime I hear this Im sitting at my desk! Is the click a malfunction?
