harddisk drivers are becoming bigger. but what about their speed?

Well technically the larger they get the faster they get per say. For example if you read the reviews on the 1tb drive from Hitachi some people are suggesting you buy it over 2 500gb drives because the single 1tb drive is faster then the 2 500gb drives. It has to do with read access to the drives that increases based on the density of the drives.

thanks igloo15. do people ever fill that much? is it still true that you can't fill i drive 100% or it gets slow?

i had head they were making them slower...wtf do you think? with more density on the platters str will go up, but a 7.2k hdd still has a slow seek time compared to 10 and 15k hdds. so faster, yes, quicker, not at 7.2k
