Harddisk Data recovery tool? Any possible good free ones?

Wondering if there is a good data recovery tool that can get data after the disk has been formatted and os installed. Free would be great (Of course )

No it isn't.

The data where the new OS has been written is gone, but everything else is still there unless he did a hardcore format and told it to write 0's.

Why would you format a hard drive, install a new OS on it, then realize you wanted stuff on it still?

It is a womans drive that she wanted everything redone and fresh but she forgot to back up some files that she says she really needs.

So, thats how it was formatted and then the data is needed
