When I saw that "fake news" actually translated into "fake votes", it dawned on me that the mere existence of an alt-reality set of facts and truths meant that they could lose an election and refuse to accept defeat. Refuse to believe they could lose. This is antithetical to the existence of our Democracy. They are directly attacking not just our institutional strength, but the concept of consent. Of voting itself when they claim it is all "fake".

The only natural recourse from their position is the use of force. They believe it. Don't know how much they are willing to step up and put their own lives on the line to make it happen, but the alt-reality bubble wants blood. Today.

James Buchanan is praising Trump from his grave, to be firmly bumped off his former #1 slot as worst U.S. president in history. (Buchanan's attempts at southern appeasement helped encourage the Confederacy and ultimately led to the Civil War.) At least Buchanan was trying to avoid the breakup of the country and simply did a terrible job, as opposed to Trump who seems to be actively pursuing it.

Even if this election is finally "settled," the next time the GOP loses an election they will skip all the legal stuff and go straight to violence.

Also, when all these civil war guys talk about taking up arms..like...who are they trying to fight/kill? The liberal soccer mom and her minivan full of kids? The Starbucks barista? Like it's beyond incomprehensible.

Just cruised by Fox, and Levin had some guy on claiming the campaign polls were faked showing Biden leading so much that Trumpers just gave up and did not go and vote.
There has to be something other than half of the country hated his fucking guts, right?
 
In some ways, it's a magnification of 2008. Some Republican voters were convinced Obama was a "secret Muslim terrorist" or a Marxist and that it was the end of the country as they knew it. It wasn't, of course, but they wouldn't admit that even years later.

I just hope some these people champing at the bit end up toning down the violent or absolutist rhetoric once Biden has been in office for a while and hasn't brought about the downfall of civilization. I'm sure some won't, of course, but there are many people who'll shout "always" or "never" only to change their minds later.
 
Some assume that since trump held those massive rallies there is no way he could lose, even though a lot of the attendees followed him around from rally to rally and Biden didn't hold any.

I had just read that, it's simply fucking amazing to me these clueless morons can't grasp that many people just
hated trump and voted against him. Shit, Hillary lost by less than half of what Biden won by yet those sneaky Dems
didn't "cheat" trump that time?, oh, Dems lost 6 house seats and need a miracle to gain control in the senate, yet these fools cannot grasp this.
 
I have a friend who is more moderate than me but a Democrat. I was a Warren supporter he was a Biden supporter. He is also very level headed. He is at the point where he is like these people have to be ostracized. They just don't function in reality and there is no dealing with them at this point.

They're just too crazy to act rationally moving forward. Looking to future contests, be they moments in history, challenges in Court, or the next election(s). They are convincing themselves that the votes were stolen and Democracy already died. The natural counter move by them is to make that dream a reality.

Step 1. Owning and safely operating firearms is not a right, it's a responsibility.

Step 2. While the lunatics are easy to point at, it's the centrist enablers who make all of it possible. Stop letting them lie about the reality of the ENTIRE Republican Party, and the vast majority of Republican voters. Part of the problem is that Trump and his surrogates will continue to fan the flames indefinitely from their various social media platforms long after Biden is sworn in, if we even get to that point.

This. Stories like this grab headlines, but handfuls of random Trump faithful in denial and joining “patriot” militias should be monitored and kept in check by federal law enforcement...its one thing to talk tough, but taking up arms is a whole other level...in the American Civil War, most of the officers and soldiers had fought in recent campaigns and were combat veterans, so it wasn’t a huge leap for them to take up arms...some chiropractor in Texas is not going to take up arms.
