Looking for a biz?
Old day: Look up via yellow page. Flip through millions of businesses and locate the 1" x 1" box that vaguely describes anything. You don't know their credibility, how they stack up against competition, their rates, etc.
Today: Google what you're looking for + your town, state = hundreds of results showing, most with user review/feedbacks, price comparison, their location on map, even their website which would provide further info.
Wanna watch a movie?
Old day: Fucking call up movie threatre (I still remember this) and go through 15 mins of messages to see what movies are playing and their times. If you forgot it, press 3 to repeat entry. Do this until you're ready to punch someone. Oh, you can also look at newspaper 1" x 1" boxes displaying showtimes. Now where's that newspaper...
Today: Google/Yahoo/whatever movie theater + your location = See all theatres within 50 mile radius and their complete show times. Pick and choose to your liking. You're out on the streets? Do the exact same on your mobile phone.
Wanna sell your old car? (This helped me personally GREATLY)
Old day: Go hit up newspaper for an ad space. $55 for 3 days and $10 additional for additional text lines. "4dr sdn v6 BO" what a bull shit. If the car doesn't sell, keep spending money which will rack up to hundreds. How much is my car worth anyway??? If nothing works, bring car to the dealer who'll pay you pennise for your car.
Today: Enter your vehicle info and find its value using KBB in 5 mins. Craiglist it for free. Write all the description you want, pictures, and even your lil sob story about why you're selling and why this is a good deal for the buyer. 10-20 people contact you each day, set up appt and boom, you've sold your car at a competitive price.
I'm sure I'm missing FAR more important things like stock prices in at everyone's fingertips, market research, etc...
