If it helps with the confusion if you install MCE2005 with an XP Pro key it will install it as XPPro and it will not ask for the second disk.

The same install disks will install TabletPC edition if you have a TabletPC key.

Yup, I was installing MCE and typed in a XP pro code to see if it would take... it did and installed XP pro SP2 (using a XP pro 2002 key). Saves me the trouble of installing XP 2002 (read pre sp1) then installing sp2 and waiting thru all that crap. Later tried a tablet pc code, worked as well.

Also DONT go walking arround thru [name your brick and mortar of choice] and write down the product key's on the side/underneath of the computers on display. Just because they work with OEM/Action pack CD's doesnt make it right.

Bwahahaha, thanks for the tip.

If you install Windows 2005 MCE with a XP Pro key, will it unlock the domain issue or are you still somewhat crippled. In other words do we have a fully loaded copy of XP Pro on disk 1 and disk 2 disables the domain feature? Thanks.

Using a XP pro key will install XP pro, it wont even ask for the second disk. (good for installing XP and not wanting to do the sp2 downloads and upgrades later)Not good for MCE as it will never ask for second disk and thereby install MCE.

Using a tablet/MCE key during install will install MCE or tablet and prompt for second disk. The first disk is universal the 2nd disk has files for both tablet and mce files on it.

You do get a chance at typing in a domain only once during install for MCE, after that you dont really have an option anymore.

I had some problems with drivers for MCE, specifically for an MSI NEO 875P mobo. Pissed me off. Ended up going the XPPRO SageTV route. Works great...
