Hard to explain, but here goes.....can't "push" file sharing on XP, only "pull"???

Cliffs:

Shrunk movie on quicker laptop. Enable folder share among workgroup computers (both computers show, no prob) and try to drag/drop or copy/paste file from one window (laptop) to another (desktop pc) and I get

"cannot access or create 'xxxx', check to make sure not write protected, full, etc."

So, I double-check everything (apparently "simple file sharing" is no long an option in Tools>View>Advanced anymore?) try a couple more times, then go over to the desktop. Then I open up 2 similar windows on the desktop pc, do the same thing &.......VOILA!!!.......no prob. Movie's copying over as I type.

Why couldn't I share the other way?? 😕 (P.S. No user profiles enabled. Both are just single, full-admin access on both and both are XP home SP3)

You need to ensure that your shared folders are set to allow read and write from remote computers.
