Thanks for the replies, on the way to class I realized that the general case is unsolvable, but I didn't persue specific solutions. As long as a solution does exist, I'm fine 😉
I am curious about the error function for the general case though (if it's small enough then I can do some really neat things), but I will save that problem for later.
