Hard Drives

uh, i dont know, but if you had a WD 120gb 2mb HD, you could always try and replace the board on it with one from the 120gb SE (8mb). that would be the only minut possibility

Would I be able to buy the board in a 8 MB Western Digital separately, or would I have to buy the whole new Hard Drive? Do a lot of computer users do this and does it work well?

Also would doing this be cost effective, or miswell I just get a new hard drive that has an 8 MB cache?

Back at my last company was had lots of hard drives with sockets to customize DSPs, memory, firmware etc. But those were engineering samples. No can do on the the consumer level. Plus why risk your data to save a couple of bucks?
