I have an older Lx p2 motherboard that i upgraded the bios in. When that was complete
somehow the hard drive could not be accessed. What i mean by this is the hard is not bootable. I contacted the manufactor of the drive maxtor and they said may be i could retrieve the info on it if i hooked it up as a slave drive so i tried that and all i coulld get was basic light shaded files basicly ms dos files. so i tried using a win 98 boot disk and selected dir from the a prompt and all off the files are in tact. my question is there a way to retrieve some are all of these files before i proceed with formating the drive. mainly if i can find the file with all my internet favorites in it. thank you if you think you can help.

If you can still see/access all the files whening booting off a floppy, then yes. Boot off the floppy, then eject it. Insert a blank floppy and just copy the files you need to the floppy. You can also copy the files to another hard drive if have share one.

What do you mean by not being about to access the hard drive? The computer won't post, won't detect the HD, or it can't boot?
