Hard drive will not spin up

I have a WD 15GB hd that will not spin up. In fact when it is plugged in the system will not even turn on. Is it possible for something to go wrong with the drive electronics that would cause the drive to short out? I say that the drive is causing a short because I have to unplug the PS and plug it in again to reset it.

Yes, it's quite possible for a drive to fail as you describe. I really don't know if it would be in the electronics or the motor, but it doesn't matter, anyway. Chances are good that it's dead...

I have the same problem but hitting the reset button, does the trick and then it work like it normally should hmm. turn off the computer, turn it back on and it does the same thing again. This one won't be an easy one to RMA since it is not fully dead yet.
