i switched cases and now when i boot the hard drives are not recognized i have 2 SATA drives one 200gb one 250

i did that and all it had was info on setting up a raid i.,e. 0+1 but my problem is that the hard drive isnt detected the cmos may of been restarted could that of caused the problem?

You switched cases but you did not switch mobos or any other hardware? What if you try 1 at a time? Are they still not seen in the bios?

are you sure they're both spinning up and running fine? i've damanged HDs moving them around; i even shorted one out when it tipped over while running on its side. the pcb touched the case and poof the drive went.

find a working channel on your sata controller and plug them in 1 at a time and make sure both of them are being picked up properly.

I don't know which motherboard or bios that you have, so it wouldn't be possible to be exact. Your bios may use different terminology, layout, etc. I would suggest simply browsing the bios to see what you can find. If you gave some specs, maybe someone could be more helpful.

I know that when I tried to replace a HD on my raid 1 array, since it was apparently defective, it disabled the entire array, and neither drive was visible in the bios. If you are in an array, you might have to disassemble it to be able to run one drive at a time.

When i boot up with single hard drives connected the boot up screen doesn't even show up. I have 2 hard drives, both WD, one 250 and one 200GB with a SK8V mobo. If these hard drives are damaged is it still possible to get the data off them?

I'm having some similar problems with a WDC drive, but I haven't solved it yet, so that's not much help. However, you might take a look at my thread...it might provide a clue if you have a raid array:

Recovering the data is possible, but how to accomplish that varies with the nature of the problem. The easiest and cheapest way is to install a recovery program, but that would require an functional OS. Otherwise, there are companys that can recover the data for you, but that is far from cheap.
