Hard Drive Transfer Question

Hi! First post... I'm trying to move my data from one computer to another. I have a 40 GB HD and a 120 GB HD in my old comp and a 30 GB HD in my new one. I want to transfer the data from my 40 GB HD to my 120 GB HD (since most of my old data is on the 40 gig), and then move that into my new computer. I made a backup of my 40 gig onto my 120 gig with Norton Ghost. Is this the right move? Is it ok to just move the 120 gig into my new comp now and restore it with Ghost? Will all my programs work? Thanks in advance! 🙂

If the data you have transfered to the 120 is just data, not the Operating system files, you should be fine. If it is the OS, you may have some problems when the OS detects the new hardware. Welcome to AT!!

Thanks a lot! I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. I'm a newbie with Ghost. Thanks again!😀

Edit: I actually copied the OS files, too, I guess, because I just did an image of the 40 gig. Is there an easy way to delete the OS (XP Pro), or should I make another image a different way? Thanks! I just want to avoid problems as much as possible.
