you convinced me - I went and got one at compusa -

already installed, working, and rebate sent off.

thanks...

$109 after rebate for 200gb is pretty decent, especially since I only have to wait for $30 to come back.

Help! 🙁
I bought the WD 120 GB at omax on BF. I can't find the western digital rebate. The PDF at Microcenter says only valid for purchases at Microcenter.

BTW the product description at Microcenter says that this drive has a 3 year warrantee.

Which one you need?

Rebate One
Rebate Two
...and the third can be found by searching for "03-66026" here.

Thank you...

Nice list..., very useful.

Gawd....WD used to offer 5 year warranties, then three, now one...and after the date of manufacturer?? Next I suspect that both will warranty for one year beyond the CEO's date of birth! I lament that there are no IBM's listed... I've burnt out six hard drives (WD & Maxtor about equally) (since 1983) and they seem to not only be warranteed less and less...and they last less and less. Anyone know of where to find "reliability" reviews?

Maxtor and WD suck, imho. Are there any that have a reputation for lasting?

frys has 250 gig western digital for 129 after 80 dollar rebate.

If you have frys in your area.

get CC to PM frys price of 209 before MIR.

CC has it for 249.99 - 100 mir.

so 249.99 - 45.09(110% difference) - 100 MIR = 104.90 + tax. That's anywhere from 42 cents a gig(no sales tax) to 49 cents a gig(8.25% sales tax)

What's good is some CC still have the the Western Digitals with 3 year warranty.

This shouldn't be a hard PM worst you could do is they'll PM so after MIR it'll be the same. for a 3 year warranty I wouldn't mind extra 5 bucks.

Just tried to do this, customer service guy refused to PM because the rebates would not be valid?

that's strange. I think you should press them some more. My CC I have a tough time PM stuff other than plain obvious ones. Like clearly printed prices. Unless they suddenly changed policies, sorry about it then. I didn't get a chance to try it yet, I'm tight on some money right now.

try buying it then coming back and get them to PM it. I'll give it a try tomorrow and see how it goes.

In the box of the 120 HD I got in OMAX there was an offer to upgrade the warrantee to 3 years for only $15.

Best Buy has the Western Digital 120GB WD1200JBRT 4654181 for $59.99 AR 12/4-12/6 ($60 and $10 MIRs)

Update: I chickened out and returned the 200GB to CC.
Waiting on $150 in rebates at Christmas just seemed like a dumb thing to do.
I'm betting (hoping) a better deal for a 250GB comes along after the first of the year.

Just went and bought one (with 3-yr warranty) from CC. They were reluctant to PM...took half an hour and said that they don't match "limited quantities on hand" deals, blah blah. But they finally did match Fry's $209.99 price. No extra 10% for the price difference though. So it came out to be $227.30 after 8.25% in taxes, $127.30 after $100 MIR. Not too shabby. 🙂

I remember they tried the limited quantities excuse. Yet when I said call frys told them they had a few palets worth of 120 gigs hd few months ago. haha. the guy looked stupid after telling his manager that frys has tons avaliable.
