I was looking at this yesterday and wondering why there are no Seagates listed. I checked out Newegg prices for Seagate and in some cases they are only $10 more than the drives listed here and that often includes free shipping.

who's got $600 to throw down on a rig like that? I'm just glad I'm finally getting to the .5 TB mark! (of course thats spanned across 3 computers, and i've got the 200G beast coming thursday!)

(the prices just start going up when you start moving to 160GB or higher)

bump for a killer post!

albrandwood: maybe you could add a column for price per gig, so its easier to see what the better deals are.

Sorry - $/gb is relatively pointless ... if you have a calculator, you can figure it out ... besides, technically speaking, the $/gb will vary depending on the Coupons / sales taxes etc ...

One of the two rebates on the 160 GB Maxtor drive at BestBuy is for a 120 or 80 GB drive. Don't buy the drive there and expect to get both rebates.

Huh? how do you figure that???

On BestBuy Maxtor L01P160 it lists two rebates ...
$30 Rebate Offer #41616
Valid: Maxtor L01P160 (SKU:5545671) Issued by BestBuy (Calais ME - BE CAREFUL WITH PRICEMATCHES)
$30 Rebate Offer #40623
Valid: Maxtor L01P160 (SKU:5545671) Issued by Maxtor (Miami, FL 331028515)

Any confusion is probably because Rebate Office #41616 is for both the L01P080 and the L01P160 ...

The Seagate Barracuda 160GB, 7200RPM, Internal SATA/150 Hard Drive @ CompUSA deal is dead.
CompUSA shows: Out of Stock for mail order and not available for pick up.
Also, MIR shows expiration of 11/01/03.

Okay. I just read the text at the very top that states, "Mail-in Rebate Form for Maxtor 80GB & 120GB Internal HD MIR's" Further down on the form it has the L01P080 model number listed. That's what threw me off.
