Hard Drive tests

The hard drive in my laptop has been clicking once in a while latley and the computer wouldn't boot up at all a few weeks ago till I reformatted. I ran checkdisk and a hard drive test utility from Hitachi and both say the drive is fine... Is there a different test program or anything I can try? It just seems to click a lot more than any HD should yet everything is telling me its fine
