Hard Drive temps at 33C: Should I be worried?

I recently bought Vantec EZ Swap removable HD rack, and I've been monitoring the temps. During the day, it can go up as high as 33C, and summer is right around the corner. Should I be concerned with these temps?

no clue, i didnt know people checked/worried about HD temps.

all companies (dell, compaq, etc) have no active cooling and are running the same HD's, w/ less case cooling probably, and they are alll fine, so no worries :p

33c is great. That's just warm to touch, which is perfectly fine. My HD's normal operating temps are anywhere from 30-40c and that's with a fan.

Cool... ;) I was a bit worried since the temps really varies from day to night. I am not home during the day, but when I get home, it gets up to about 33-35C, but at night, or in the morning, it is at about 24-27C. Also, it is starting to get hot now, and I know the temps will just get higher once summer really rolls around.

How is the Vantec ?

I am about to buy one also for cooling my hd

It's pretty cool.... the LCD shows the temps, and it looks pretty sweet. Although I kind of wish I researched this some more since I just found these hot-swappable drive cage at hypermicro. But I got a good deal on these MRK-102Fs.... The jumpers for these things we a bit of a pain to setup, but after I figured it out, it's been great.

Thanks again for the replys.....

mine seems to run right w/ my case temps. highest i think i've seen it is prob 33 (when it was getting pretty warm the other day). last night it cooled down a lot, and i saw a 19 i believe w/ case and cpu temps around the 20s as well. i've also read that max temps are in the 50 range, so you should have nothing to worry about.

Don't see a problem with 33C. My ambient temp can get up to that temp during the day and I don't want to guess the temp of the HDD :p

Errr the temp is OK and HDD cooling enclosures are met by me with a little sceptisism: what happens when the fan goes? Well that happened to me and the bearings of my HDD went bust. This didn't happen overnight but I didn't notice the fan was broken until I could really hear the high pitched whine of the drives bearings. Now it is the loudest part of my system and will be traded as soon as possible :(

I now have a Thermaltake case with the fan integrated in the otherwise open drive bay. For swappable drives I would only use cooler 5400 RPM drives or if speed is a must, Maxtor drives with oil bearings. A quality enclosure is of course beneficial but really good ones cost a nice amount of money.
