I have a Maxtor 40 gig HD and in Windows explorer it is read as a capacity of 27 gigs, but it should be showing a capacity of around 38 or 39 gigs. I have DMA enabled and have the latest bios upadate. Do i need to install anything else? Should i be installing any maxtor utilities?

Here's my setup:
- WinME
- Epox 8K7A
- Maxtor 40 gig HD

Look at the model number and verify with Maxtor, you may have been screwed and it could be a 30 gigabyte Hard drive

run fdisk and check your partitions. i had an invisble partition one time, it was taking up about 1.3 gigs on a 10gig, it was a Maxtor also i believe

Yup, it sounds like you forgot to partition a chunk of your HD. It happens. No worries...just go back into fdisk and create another logical partition containing the rest of your HD...or just repartition your drive.
