I am about to build a Core 2 Duo system in Oct. And I need to get a new HD setup. I dont really know what way to go cause I havent really researched much. Honestly, I have a 120GB SATA drive now..and now I want a RAID system with better performance but still without breaking the bank. I am lucky enough to be a retail employee and I am getting a Core 2 Duo e6300/Intel MoBo(which I plan to sell)/Windows Vista Ultimate for $220...so Im not having to spend too much..I just ordered an X1900XTX through ATI Accomodations..I wont mention the price..people may poo themselves its so cheap. I plan to get a p5b deluxe and overclock the core 2 duo.. my hard choice is my HD selection..I find forums about cpu and memory with all sorts of suggestions..Anything would be great.. Thanks for the suggestions in advance for those who are kind enough to help out 😀
 
Do you want a RAID setup for any specific reason? Do you have an app that you know is hard drive limited? Because if not you will not nootice much improvement from a RAID-0 rig. If you're after data redundancy, you could go RAID-1, but most pople find DVD backups more practical. DVDs sitting in a drawer do not use electricity or generate heat.

I like Seagate HDs by the way, especially the new 320GB perpendicular storage models, they have a great price for all that space.
 
well I really dont do much else besides game..I do play some high end games and thats the major reason why I want some fast drives..they dont need to be large though..just fast.. I play a lot of FPS games like BF2, FEAR, CS, HL2, DoD:source... I just need some good access times for the money.

I was saying that I wasn't a noob when it came to setting up a RAID 0 config. Way to take that out of context. I didn't say I was no noob to the forums themselves. I'm new to these forums so cut me some slack. No need to be a jerk for no reason.

I understand you're new to the forums.
I was simply telling you how you can reply to an old thread in order to generate new responses, rather than create another identical thread.

Why not PM you with this information?
Because there are many other new members that may read this and remember how to avoid redundant threads.

Sorry if it came across as some kind of slam, it wasn't meant that way.
