Hard Drive restore DVD's software

I have heard of clonzilla, Acronis and Paragon restore but have recently, while researching, came across r-drive and a few other solutions.

I want the ability to create a DVD of my hard drive so that if I wanted to, I can pop in the DVD and restore my hard drive to the same time as when i created the DVD.

I read an article about doing this with clonezilla which is free and open source, but it seemed like you had to jump through a ton of hoops.

What programs or methods do you use for this? Is the commercial products the best solution or is there some open source methods as well?

The solution to what you are describing (plus some hardware) is exactly what I use WHS for. But I use WHS for a lot of other things as well. WHS has become priceless for use of backups. And I say that while in the midst of having to redo the entire system because of a failing system disk, and having to juggle hard drives to manage 7 terabytes of data.

Do you have some cash? Go out and buy True Image 2009 and you will be glad you bought it.

I use True Image 2009 also.
As a matter of fact i just now got done installing a clean install of Win7 RC1 and all my programs and imaged my entire c: drive with Acronis 2009.
The image took 12min to make and came in at just under 7gb. (fits right on a dual layered dvd)
Note: You can split the image file into parts to fit onto any media you want.

Windows Home Server converted me over from Acronis True Image which is also a great application. WHS does so much more though!
