hard drive recognized in bios, but not windows

I'm assuming this is because the partition table got messed up or something installing linux.

so is there a good boot CD that I can use to make a new partition table, or do you have another idea of how to fix it?

Stick your Windows cd in the drive, delete the partitions and format it from there.

Don't worry. I had the exact same problem. But with the helpful folks in GENERAL HARDWARE, I had it running in a hurry :)
