hard drive problems

i have a wd 640 gb black drive...it runs deadly slow,,,reads and writes of just 2mg/s....everything i do with this drive is slow, installing software takes forever...any ideas?

also, i have a seagate 7200:11 drive 500gb....computer will not recognize it at all....in the bios or post.....i just don,t know whats wrong here?

seems odd to have problems with these 2 drives, not that old...

it seems like the newer hardware is not lasting long...i have a old wd 400-40gb drive, idie,,and it runs nice....both of the problem drives are sata

What interface for the drive, IDE, SATA, ACHI? I know the drives are SATA but, what is the setting? How full is it? Defrag it? Failing power supply? Bad cables? Alien mind control? When did it start acting up?

they will only work with sata, idie....ahci does not work...at least i did not install the driver for that....it was on vista, xp, and windows 7...same with all 3...do you think i need to use ahci

all the hardware works,. one computer new...i can run other drives on them, the seagate will not boot on any computer,,,cannot even get it seen in the bios....the western digital,,,for some reason has gotten slow as a turtle..
