hard drive problems

Ok so heres the problem.

I have a Intel 975XBX mobo and Im trying to setup a RAID 0 array on 2 36gb raptors.
On boot it allows me to go into the Silicon Image Inc RAID utility through which I initially setup the array. Was very easy.

Then I installed XP and all was good.
Then I tried installing my mobo CD and I got a PXE-61 media cable error.

I thought it had something to do with my drives so I removed the partition and then tried to install XP again. (that was my 1st mistake cuz now i know it had nothing to do with my drives then but just a simple boot to network thing that i had to disable in BIOS)

Between all this I managed to pick up a newer version of XP with SP2. Tried installing it and this time it wouldnt detect my HDDs.

On the reboot I realized that the RAID utility is detecting them so I setup a RAID 0 array again. XP still wouldnt detect it.

Now the funny part is that my BIOS detects the raid array but not the individual drives and I have no idea where the problem is.

So to summarize:
On IST Windows install
- used older disk
- setup raid array
- windows installed
- all good

On 2nd attempt
- used newer disk with SP2
- setup raid array
- windows dosnt detect HDD's
- BIOS detects raid array as a drive

On 3rd attempt
- used newer disk with SP2
- deleted raid array and kept it as 2 disks
- windows dosnt detect any HDDs
- BIOS dosnt detect any HDDs
- RAID utility still detects them and lets me format em, setup an array etc
- With the array up the BIOS detects them

Did i screw something up to the point where I have to now discard it? (I pray that I didnt)

If not, what could be the problem?
