I looked into details and ran powermax on the drive. I am going to give the details below. Can anyone tell me if it can be repaired or RMA is the only option?
Model : MAXTOR 40K040H2
Firmware: A08.1500
Cylinders:77578
Head: 16
SPT: 63
Maximum LBA: 78198750


It passed installation confirmation
Failed inBasic quick test: Error code 672S57 (SMART sef test) Fail
Failed advanced test: Error code 672R03 (Read verify command failure)

for Both error code prescribed action on MAXTOR website is "Replace drive". But before doing that i just wanted to if I can do anyhting like firmwire upgrade to repair this rather than RMA it. Thanks in advance. However it et me perform low level formatting using power max.
