hard drive problem

i was running chkdsk with winxp and i got tired of waiting so i restarted my computer
then my bios didn't detect my hard drive

do you guys know whats up with this?
is there any way to fix this?

I would simply reset the BIOS by using either the jumper on the motherboard, or pulling the power cord and CMOS battery for about 20 seconds, then putting them both back into the computer and trying again.

There may be a less drastic way, but if you have not tweaked your BIOS settings, either of the methods above should not be too much of a hassle for you.

Have had this happen over the years . . . and it usually resulted in a bad IDE ribbon connection. Reseat them and the Molex power plug. Does the drive light up when you power on?

Was it working OK before CHKDSK?
