Hard Drive Problem

Hey everyone. Ok so I have two hard drives an 80gb WD and an 80gb Seagate. I have windows xp running off the WD 80gb. Half the time when I try to boot my computer it freezes or restarts. Whenever I finally get it started Windows would randomly freeze and reboot with a critical error message, "blue screen", saying that a serious error has occured in my hard drive. Is my WD 80gb hard drive dying on me or is it some virus? Also, the hard drive now makes a loud loading noise when its in use, and whenever i tap the side of my case the hard drive reboots.

Sounds like a major failure of the drive, although there's a small chance it's the data or power cables.

Makes sure the cables are tightly seated, and try swapping them. One of my PSUs happens to have a bad connector so if I wiggle it in the socket on a drive, it loses power.

If you can't afford to lose the data on the drive, you should immediately start trying to make a backup.

After that, you can run the Western Digital Data Lifeguard utility downloaded from their site. That will provide you with error codes to assist in getting an RMA, if it's still within warranty. If it's not under warranty, you'll just have to replace it.

Alright, I just cleaned out my computer and swapped power cables and the same problem is occuring. I also tried to reformat the hard drive and install a fresh copy of windows but an error occurred during that also. So its not the data or power cables. Well, I'm going to get a new one then, thanks for the help guys.
