hard drive problem

Ok, so my samsung 160gb hard drive full of data, has a missing pin.
Is there an easier way to get the data off besides buying another one just like it and switching the logic circuits and sending back the bad logic circuit attached to the good drive?

Hi, Most drives do have a missing pin. It used to be used as a key. The connector was plugged in the same positon. It was so you couldn't plug the cable in wrong. It's missing in the bottom row about the center. If I remember correctly it was pin 20. Look for some other problem! Good Luck, Jim

Let me guess - the missing pin is right in the middle?! All drives are missing that - it's so you can't insert the cable upside-down.
