ok, my main HD is toast I think, but I want to try and get any data off if possible. whenever I plug it into any machine, I get the same 9beep tone (from several machines of varying age) and the drive does not get detected and the computers wont boot even when I put it on as a slave or secondary device with another HD with windows on it as the Primary master.

this started after my power supply fried most of my drives. I realize I most likely wont be able to use the drive at all, but was wondering if there was any way to salvage the data.
the drive is a 200gb Maxtor, I also have another 250gb Maxtor that is not able to be detected but doesnt make the computers have the problems they do

if you need any more info than what I put here, please let me know

If you happened to have an identical (meaning same exact brand, model and capacity) drive lying around that worked, you could try taking the controller board off of the defective drive and replacing it with the board from the working drive. The symptoms sound like the problem is with the drive's electronics rather than its mechanics, in which case the data is most likely quite intact on the platters.

If you haven't got an identical drive around though, you'll need to find a data recovery professional who can help you with this, and that will probably not be cheap.
