i built my own system, asus mobo, seagate 80 gig IDE hard drive (bout a year old)
AMD athlon XP 3000+, and a gig of ram
i have never seen so much stuff come up on a disk check before
1st off it takes about 10 minutes to boot
i kept getting error messages from my antivirus software saying to uninstall and reinstall on boot up
i was running tune up utilities before it all happened, but after i had been making changes the system still worked fine, it seems that the problems happend after a period of being idol
after the problems started i fix any changes to the reg. that i did and uninstalled tune up utilities
i think reformating would be the best solution but does any one have any ideas as to what may have caused it or how to fix it?
as for security im pretty well covered- trend micro 2005, about 5+ spyware programs, and a firewall thats built in to PC-cillian
thanks for any help
EDIT: also the hard drive light rarely goes off, my guess is that it is searching for the important files it needs but they seem to have been thrown into lala land🙂
