hard drive position question

I have the Antec Sx-1030 case
I recently bought a hard drive and the screw holes would not match up in the smaller drive cages so basically i have the hard drive positioned in the middle of the cage without any support from the bottom nor the top. It is in a cage by itself right in the middle so the bottom and the top of it is touching nothing. would this cause a problem later on?

Go to www.computergeeks.com. I bought an ATX case for $22 plus shipping. Cheap yes.
Could have spent more. Could have always spent more. I really didn't care, son's peecee a.k.a. where my old spare parts ended up as. Second of 4 desktops in the house.

Of course, will the rest of you parts fit in a generic case?

As far as your current set up, don't know. Harddrives internally spin from 5400 rpm to
10000 rpm. If you don't move you case, maybe. If you can place it on foam rubber, better. Of course, don't block air flow thru case. And always remember that when you
open your case, the the HD is not bolted down.

You could jury ridge it. i.e. a small metal plate where you screw the plate to the HD and the case. Seems like too much work to me.

Of course, there's always ImustBeCrazy Rule 1: install it. It breaks couple weeks from
now. Wifee, I have to go to the computer show. Our peecee died.

ok, i'm not completely sure how to interpret this... are you saying that the hard drive is just "wedged" in without any screws? that is bad. the screw holes definately line up...try again. if you are saying that you got screws in, but you can only get the holes to line up in the middle position so the drive is alone and screwed in in the middle, that is fine (i hope this is what you mean). no offense to imustbecrazy, but ignore what he said, there is absolutely no need to "rig" anything on the hard drive case on the sx1030 (and it is a great case so don't bother replacing it with any generic case).

BTW, i was talking about the HD screwed in, it only aligns in the middle and I screwed it in there

Your drive should be fine where it is. One option (cheaper than a new case) is to get a set of brackets that will enable you to put the 3.5" drive in a 5.25" bay.

The removable hard drive tray in the Antec holds 3 hard drives plus the flopper.
He is trying, I think, to put a hard drive in one of his 5 1/2 inch bays...He must be...
Down below your floppy drive is where the hard drives go, in that tray...see the box with the lever???
Slip the hard drive in it....THEN..Pull the lever out and back.
You'll feel it click loose.DO NOT drop it !
Slide it about 1 inch toward the back of the case....off it comes...
Put your screws in.. Leave the drive as far back as it will go. It makes getting to the jumpers and plugs easier...
